Lancashire Place

Lancashire is a varied place from the high moorland of the South Pennines to the flat expanse of the Fylde Coast and the countryside of the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland.

A combination of urban areas including Preston and Lancaster, former textile towns such as Burnley, coastal resorts and market towns.

A mixture of wealthy and disadvantaged communities. In the more rural areas, poverty and social exclusion happen alongside people living in wealthier areas. Large areas of deprivation can be found in East Lancashire, Morecambe, Skelmersdale and Preston. Lancashire covers a large area and a large population.

Within this place there are three localities, responsible for planning and delivering services in their area:

  • North Lancashire
  • Central and West Lancashire
  • East Lancashire

Key priorities

Connected Colleagues - We want to improve the way in which our teams, from across many organisations, are enabled and empowered to work together to provide better experiences for our residents. Our teams will plan together, share information together, and deliver co-ordinated services to our communities by being better connected colleagues.

Seamless Services - We want to improve the way in which public services in Lancashire are provided to our residents, by creating services that are planned, bought and delivered together – no matter who provides them or where they are provided from – so that the experience for our citizens of all of our services are seamless.

Integrated Infrastructure - We want to improve the way we work together as a group of partners, including how we spend the Lancashire pound, how we understand the information we all hold, how we make decisions together, how we plan together – so we have integrated infrastructure to support our ambitions of joined-up care.

Healthier and happier Lancashire - We want to work with our partners in Lancashire, to enable and empower our communities to live healthier and happier lives right across the life course – starting well, living well, working well, ageing well and dying well – and where there are inequalities to help reduce them.

How to get involved

It is important we involve people from all of the diverse communities across Lancashire in our work. The NHS belongs to us all and your views matter. It's your health service, and it's really important you tell us about your experiences and help to shape how services will look in the future.

By actively engaging people in different ways, we also come closer to reducing the differences in health and life expectancy and deliver services that meet the needs of our population.

If you would like to get involved please contact our engagement team at lscicb.ice@nhs.net

What is a place-based partnership?

A place-based partnership is a collaboration of planners and providers across health, local authority and the wider community, who take collective responsibility for improving the health and wellbeing of residents within a place. Most people’s day to day care and support needs will be met within a place and delivered in neighbourhoods.

Lancashire is one of four place-based partnerships in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
